Doing music at church

We do music at our country parish regularly. Numbers Five and Six alternate the playing and we sing together, simply, sometimes in unison, a few times in parts. We usually do the old, traditional hymns, beloved by all and simple to join in. Before receiving Holy Communion we usually do a short piece by ourselves. We have done the Chant Ave Maria  a couple of times recently and the fact that Fr. B. looked up to the loft and smiled was an enjoyable reward! Yesterday we did a round of the Dona Nobis Pacem as everyone in the parish loves that, especially Fr. T. I. who has been in the hospital recently and for whom we have been praying.

Yesterday as we sang at church I was filled with a deep sense of gratitude. Our neighbor who usually sings with us wasn't able to come, and Number Seven joined us with her beautiful young voice. All of a sudden I looked around me: my three beautiful daughters, my youngest children, all around me, and the four of us greatly enjoying together the music we do for the glory of God.

Truly--what else can I ask for in this life?

And I thanked God immensely for His grace and generosity in our marriage, having entrusted us with these great gifts, our three youngest children--children that most likely wouldn't be here if we listened to the World, and not to His Loving Voice. How can I possibly thank Him enough?
