Fifth in State!
We are a *very* proud family!
It was the first time I went to the State GeoBee competition, this year in the beautiful and friendly campus of SDSU in Brookings, SD.
Number Four has been to State four times, since 5th grade in Nebraska. He is the one who is constantly migrating to the nearest Atlas between subjects...
I confess it was astounding to see him answering question after question correctly. Which country became independent and applied for member status with the ECM? Yikes--I didn't know. But he did. He got them all correctly (one of only three out of the 93 kids to do that) in the preliminary session and did extremely well in the finals. He answered only two incorrectly all day, one being "who controlled the West Bank in 1949?". I sure didn't know.
That is incredible! Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sure MapGuy knows the answers!
ReplyDeleteYea for Thomas... Tell him congratulations from the two of us!!!! :)

But who DID control the West Bank in 1949 Tho?
ReplyDeleteWell, he said the United Kingdom... and that was incorrect. Any guesses? (He's in a Quiz Bowl right now).
