Thanksgiving cards

 

Numbers Six and Seven spent some time in the weekend making these nice cards... I couldn't help taking pictures! 

Summer

All things considered--this townhouse's cramped quarters, schedules, weather, Number Two's paperwork and other needs while stateside--it has been a wonderful fun summer and the girls have spent so much time together, be it doing Art, swimming, walking, laughing.

Have paper, glue, and an old book?

I saw that my own feelings had prepared my sufferings, and that my want of fortitude under them had almost led me to the grave."  Marianne and Elinor walked by Barton Cottage as these words, truthful and beautiful, were uttered by the remorseful younger sister. My 13 year old daughter and I enjoyed the recorded narration coming from Audible on the iPad as we worked on our art project in a quiet afternoon. Our project this time consisted of an old book of Italian masters' reproductions, scissors and some glue... We were carefully cutting around renaissance Madonnas, angels and saints, and neoclassical columns to decoupage beautiful greeting cards and paper gift bags!

This is the opening of an article I am working on for Mater & Magistra entitled Towards Beauty: the Homeschooling Effort. I just had to post photos of our simple results. The gift bags were made of grocery paper bags and the greeting cards from card stock. This is graduation season, and we love handing homemade cards!

Thank You cards season

As co-op wraps up this week, the girls and I officially open our "card factory" for the season! Number Seven's card, shown, is for her Art teacher, pictured holding artwork and books! ... so cute.

A pretty card

Number Five just made this pretty card for young Briege who turns 17... I couldn't resist blogging it!

One Week with Number One

He was our first special order customer. Number Five and I (and our card factory) enjoyed making for him our most elaborate product yet.





Learning to iron is a must when one needs to dress "business casual" for a summer internship at GE Health.






Notre Dame has attached a frisbee to his hand.








We always save our steaks for when he is home. Grass-fed Fillet Mignon and NY Strip with fresh aspargus from the garden is not an everyday dinner here!

Our "Card Factory"

Number Five and I are busy these days... It's the month of birthdays and graduations, so we opened our own card factory. Today Number One requested our first custom order.
