Planting potatoes on Good Friday

Life in South Dakota has been teaching us many new facets of "Catholic farm life", mostly learned from our new homeschool friends who grew up in farms around the state. Planting potatoes on Good Friday is one of these. Here are a couple of photos--the weather was gorgeous!

Although obviously lacking scientific basis, I enjoyed discovering this traditional Catholic custom. It also got me to learn more about planting potatoes, and here is a very nice website on potatoes from England. Happy Easter!
