HILDA VAN STOCKUM +2006

She was a dear friend in the hearts of so many Catholic homeschool families... she died yesterday, on the feast of All Saints. My God rest her soul.

HILDA VAN STOCKUM, AWARD-WINNING CHILDREN’S BOOK AUTHOR AND ARTIST, DIES AT 98
Hilda van Stockum, internationally noted author and illustrator of such children’s classics as the The Mitchells, The Winged Watchman and A Day on Skates, for which she took Newbery honors, died at 98 on November 1 in Berkhamsted, UK, after a stroke. She was for many years a resident of Washington, D.C.

Thanks so much for letting me know. We just love the two books of hers that we have read. She was a gifted writer and artist. May she rest in peace with the Lord.
