Flora and fauna , part III

The monastery is home for yet another cousin, and is located at a breathtaking spot. We learned about the story of the first Europeans settlers of that area: 200 families fleeing the Swiss famine during the Napoleonic wars, who obtained permission to emigrate upon finding out the Portuguese royal family was living here.
