In search of Flannery O'Connor

O the joy of reading an excellent article. And a cheerful piece on my very favorite Catholic writer... Check out In Search of Flannery O'Connor, by Lawrence Downes of the New York Times, printed in the Travel section yesterday.

His love for her writing and his understanding of the quality of her work--both craft and doctrine--are a consolation to this reader.
Enjoy it here! I quote:
Her doctrinally strict, mordantly funny stories and novels are as close to perfect as writing gets. Her language is so spare and efficient, her images and character’s speech so vivid, they burn into the mind.

You may also enjoy a unit study I wrote about this author last year. The illustration shows one of my favorite books about O'Connor, check it out at My Library on the sidebar.

Hat Tip to People of the Book,
a newly discovered (by me) blog on Catholic literature
