Every end is bittersweet

Yesterday we held our last extended Co-op elementary school Latin class of the school year. It was bittersweet, because every end-- end of the school year included--is bittersweet.

Theologically speaking, it goes against our supernatural grain: we were destined--and yearn for--eternity.

My young students learned well the Mica Mica Parva Stella and sang it numerous times during the year, once for the amused librarians and once as a surprise for me. They worked through deciphering state mottoes and they pondered on some big concepts. They were exposed to vignettes of classical Roman daily life and met some pretty famous people in the process: Demosthenes among them! They finished the year by learning the geography and Latin names of the Imperium Romanun. All of this and more it's in my very favorite Latin program: James Leek's Our Roman Roots.
