Mount Rushmore today!

Here we go!

Our family visited Mt. Rushmore some seven years ago... Number Seven was not born yet. I remember being completely struck and surprised by its artistic beauty, and am looking forward to being there today again. Here is a close-up picture (both pictures are public domain) of sculptor Borglum's incredibly creative and successful life-like eyes: he did this by carving in the dark part of the eyes and leaving an uncarved "dot" on each eye, the same way we do when drawing the human eye. Compare these presidents' eyes with some Graeco-Roman sculptures' eyes-- Borglum gave his eyes life!
