Making dollhouses out of junk

My old friend Patsy Urbanovsky sent yesterday what looks like a wonderful girls' project. I confess I can't wait to get started with my girls! Thanks, Patsy!

Ana, I can see you and your girls loving this project: Making dollhouses out of junk. The only rule is - you can only purchase 2 things, sticks for the glue gun, and scrapbook papers for wallpapers and flooring.

The dollhouse is made out of box, and it is played with from the top, short enough to be slipped out of the way under the bed. All the furniture and accessories are made from stuff around the house.

We have been saving junk for awhile, as have some friends. They all came over for the long-awaited "Dollhouse Day" and the girls worked hard all day, with a short break for a picnic lunch. The moms then were invited to come in the afternoon to view the "Parade of Homes Open Houses."

The Polly Pockets moved into their new digs that very evening.

It's a great project. God Bless, Patsy

I know! I just can't wait to start. If anyone has some ideas on what little things they used, let me know!

The girls made the really cute cupboards: the bottom is part of a spaghetti box, and the top is the lid of a small box that jewelry is put in. The doors/drawers glued on look so real! It is covered in scrapbook paper.

I always thought those little creamer cups you get at rester aunts look like barbie trash cans. Great ideas!

I know! Now I am looking at little things with new eyes... Patsy, what did you use for the fireplace?

Dorothy's was the one with brown "stone" on it. We used a box (a pasta box, I think) and cut it to size, then we glued on brown sugar cubes. We glued a black piece of cardboard to the top.

Anne P. made hers out of a box, then painted it (red bricks with white between).

Ana, you will get hooked I just know it.

How about the little plastic things they use to hold up pizza boxes - nice little tables?
