Act of Consecration

It took me a while to find this prayer in English, a shortened act of consecration to Mary. I knew it by heart in Portuguese, growing up and during my college years, when our family helped at the local house of the French order Foyer de Charite.

I thought of it yesterday when our family attended the Consecration to Our Lady at our parish, following the model of Saint Louis Marie Grignon de Montfort. We will for now on incorporate it to our nightly family prayers.

I Choose You Today, Mary,

in the presence of the angels and saints of heaven,

for my Mother and Queen.

I consecrate to you, in obedience and love,

all that I am, all that I have,

and all the good that I may do,

putting myself and all that belongs to me

entirely at your service,

for the greater glory of God

And the salvation of souls.
