A Day Out
One fine afternoon Lady Cornelia and her daughter Samantha were walking in the Hoganmier Park. They sat down together in the shade and rested. “Mother, I want to walk on the bridge”, said that greedy, spoiled Samantha. “Alright”, sighed Lady Cornelia. Beside the bridge (which was more like a plank), there were three little children. “C’mon c’mon c’mon!”, mumbled a little boy who was using a rolled piece of paper as a telescope. “Go through!”, mumbled the other. It appeared that they wanted a toy boat to go under a bridge. There was also a little girl with the boys. She apparently was cheering them on.
“Miss! miss!”, cried a boy from on the hill. “You forgot your parasol!” “Well I did, didn’t I?”, exclaimed Lady Cornelia, “How silly of me!” Meanwhile, that selfish Samantha was watching the children by the bridge. “Mother, shall we go on?”, she asked. “Of course, dear”, Lady Cornelia said, contentedly. So they walked on but Samantha was still staring at the little children. “Dear, come along.”, Said Lady Cornelia. And they went home from Hoganmier Park, and lived happily ever after (not true!).
