I found a new blog, Andrew Cusak, thanks to Tea at Trianon.He alerts us to a new film version of Waugh's masterpiece coming this summer. Here is the trailer.
Some say that the BBC version is the best literary work ever brought to screen. The dialogs are are all there, and most of the descriptions. Cordelia’s entire and crucially Catholic conversation. In any event I never did like Jeremy Irons–I like the looks of this Ryder better. But if the film doesn’t show the bedside repentance/conversion scene, or worse yet, the final redemption of Sebastian– what a nasty betrayal towards Waugh.

When does it come out? I'm excited to see it, watching the preview made me remember how much I enjoyed the book.
Having viewed the trailer, I hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Because the BBC movie was more of a miniseries, they left in most of the dialogue. This trailer makes me think that all that your concerns about the movie will come to pass.

Yes, it has been made-- but as a long miniseries. This is a big screen >2 hrs version... Let's see how badly they butcher the book.
I read this book one summer and drove 2 hours to your book club, so of course this is great news about a new movie version! The BBC does better when it has longer than 2 hours, as we saw with the new Jane Austen series. But we will keep hopeful in anticipation of this new "Brideshead."
