Our curriculum

Prompted by my reader from Canada, I begin today listing some of our curriculum for this year.

Some new things:
Wordly Wise Book 5, 8th grade: Number Five is using this is and it is the first time we ever use Wordly Wise. She is enjoying the format and we are both learning lots of new vocabulary!

Art 2 from Seton: Number Seven happily does a page a day and adds some creative imagination to her exercises!

Singapore Math 4: Another one we have never done before. I had Number Six choose among a few Math programs I had previewed, and I am afraid her reason for this one was the fact there there seems to be fewer exercises on each page. Whatever it takes for a sunny attitude when it comes to Math daily work!

A Light to the Nations: The Development of Christian Civilization: As with the past volumes of this series, we are loving it!! From their website: "From the coming of Jesus Christ, through the achievements of medieval Christendom, to the Enlightenment projects of the 18th century, God's work in history reveals itself. This book combines narrative accounts with the necessary facts, dates, short biographies, and concept definitions needed for a Christian cultural understanding. The central concern of the volume is the effect on human civilization wrought by the Christian Faith. Drawing on the work of Catholic historians of the 20th century, Christopher Dawson, Hillaire Belloc, and Frederick Wilhelmsen, the authors have crafted a Catholic and accurate account of our Western heritage to convey our story to youth. Grade range: 7-9 Available for Ordering in CD format – $25.00".

That's right! That's why we had one hanging around. She is doing the eighth grade one, and loving it!
