And one more.
My dear husband gave me the new Mariza CD. Outstanding! My parents loved the fado and we learned to love it also at home-- the traditional Portuguese music. Mariza is the new star with a crisp, powerful voice.
Thank you, love, for bringing joy and great music into my life!

I picked up a couple of Fado cds at the library. I have not listened to them yet. You already have one of her cds already, don't you? I think we have listened to her at your house, with great enjoyment, I might add.
Yes-- they are absolutely beautiful! Amalia Rodrigues, whom I was taken to see in concert in Rio by my dad (along with all siblings) looong ago, was the queen of fado.
You should check out the movie "Fados" by Carlos Saura. Doesn't have much of a plot, but it tells the history of fado and there are some amazing performances. Happy birthday!
Hello there, American in Warsaw! Have you hear that our Number Two will spend the whole year in France next year?I am counting on you to keep an eye on her! We watched last night the History of Fados DVD that came with the CD-- 1 hr long and a high quality, interesting production! Thanks for the tip!
Click here to be directed to my other blog, where I am publishing, in order, the Braga Family photo albums made by my mother, Lucia Braga. May she rest in God's eternal and blissful peace.
