Yesterday Google honored Catholic priest Nicolas Steno, considered as the "Father of Geology".
Not long ago it was Gregor Mendel, the "Father Modern Genetics", and also a Catholic priest.It is nice when the marriage of faith and science appears, nonchalantly, in unexpected places.

I posted this yesterday because I thought it was so neat but nobody said anything so I started wondering if it was the wrong person? It wasn't, oh well! Anyway, this article doesn't mention his faith, but it is a very interesting read:

He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in the 1980's I think.

I saw Nicolas Steno but missed Fr. Mendel on Google. THANKS! My twins are doing the traditional Schmidling science fair project for 8th grade -- comparing the blood types of identical and fraternal twins! We pricked our own fingers yesterday and now will pounce on other twins. I love the way the Holy Spirit has revealed such intricate things to scientists.
