Like Father, Like Daughter

Number Six has started her Great Books Literature Curriculum for the year.  She and friends C. and S. are following the Angelicum Academy Great Books Guides. She has already read and written essays on Theogony and on Aeschylus' Prometheus Bound--excellent essays--and we are proud of her.

Husband's Great Books background (St. John's College '82) has been surfacing because of this, and  the other day, seeing that she had started The Iliad, he pulled his old college volume from the shelf and they enjoyed reading to each other comparing translations--Lattimore and Fitzgerald in this case. Later on they also downloaded a couple more free Kindle editions on the iPads, and had fun reading more, especially with Pope's rhyming version.

Life father, like daughter.
