Scholarships

We pray every day for Number Five's college choice... asking God for guidance so that she may attend a college where she will grow both academically and spiritually.

This past week she received generous scholarships from both University of Saint Thomas, MN, and University of Nebraska. We have also received a call from the Music Dept. director at University of Mary in North Dakota, and the possibilities in his department seem very good. Mostly she is impressed by the fact that music majors are able to go on the semester abroad, staying in their new Rome Campus, like other other majors. That seems to not be possible at Benedictine College in Kansas where she has also been admitted. University of Mary is the newest Catholic institution listed on the Newman Guide.

She has also received personal communications from both our State Universities. She was invited to play at the Honors Recital at SDSU and she received information on full-ride possibilities to stay in the state, provided she works here for 4 to 5 years after graduation. We will keep praying: lots to discern!

In the meantime she keeps playing and playing... yesterday she did a wonderful job providing the entertainment for the Ladies' Christmas Tea at our country parish. Below is the first page of her program: there were many more carols as the ladies had requested sing-alongs. I just hope that next year they host the Christmas Tea during the Christmas Season!

I was a music major and remember this process all too well! I was fortunate to have received a full scholarship to an in-state private liberal arts university. Your daughter has many wonderful options!
