Sister Martina tells us that Mother Franciska has now officially retired, and the community had their election, with the local bishop present. The new Abbess is American! She is from Chicago, belongs to their daughterhouse on Colorado, and has spent quite a bit of time in Germany. My sister now says that she keeps telling the older sisters: "Just wait, we'll have hamburgers and hot dogs every night!", to their sheer horror. On the website I saw a great recent photo of my dear sis on a recent field trip.
