Number Five posted on CaringBridge asking for prayers during these days preceding the skull surgery.
“Pray this same prayer with us every day (including today!) leading up to James' surgery. This will total nine days, as the term "novena" means a nine-day prayer.
Dear Mother, Our Lady of the Rosary,
Please come to us. Calm the storms of our hearts and minds as your child James David undergoes surgery. May we know that you are asking your Son, The Divine Physician, to guide the medical team as they operate. Cover James with love and protection through his operation. Please ask your Son to clothe him in grace and hope through his recovery.
Then, pray a traditional prayer called "The Memorare":
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
Finish with a rosary if you are able.
