Plane crash in Brazil: report from my nephew

We have a lot to be thankful for, as you can gather from my nephew Gabriel's report. He works near the airport. Keep in mind this is a smaller domestic airport, and not the airport you would fly in to were you to fly from the US to Brazil:

O avião se chocou em um prédio da Tam Express que armazenava cartas e outras coisas. O posto de gasolina fica a uns 70m de distância e por sorte os bombeiros conseguiram controlar o fogo antes que atingisse o posto. Se o posto tivesse sido atingido acredito que a catastrofe teria sido MUITO maior pois a região é predominantemente residencial e iria aos ares.

What he is saying is that the gas station a mere 70 meters away was spared, due to quick action of the firemen, and good fortune. Were it hit, he says, a whole residential neighborhood would have suffered with awesome explosions.
