Picture Books of the Week

This week we brought home two new non-fiction titles from the library!

African Critters by Robert Haas, 2008 National Geographic.

A hefty large-format volume, this is a meatier picture book by National Geographic with 92 pages. The book brims full of amazing photography quality known to the publisher, and it also has an   interesting, creative way to display the photos on the pages. All this complemented by personal accounts of the photographer/author's journeys. Parents may find themselves reading on!

Little Lions, Bull Baiters & Hunting Hounds: A History of Dog Breeds by Jeff Crosby and Shelley Ann Jackson, 2008 Tundra Books.

If you have dog-loving girls like we do, make sure to grab this one! Wonderful, warm and colorful illustrations tell story after story about... dogs!  Hunting breeds, herding breeds, companion breeds, they are all there! Interesting historical facts galore! Number Five, 13 years old, couldn't put it down, literally. She says she loved the illustrations, the stories, and the style of language!
