Mamãe’s orquids

A friend in Brazil, who used to help my sister with our parents in their old age, sent these. She took cuttings from my mom and continues to cultivate them. I love seeing the pics—mamãe continuing to give life and beauty.

My grandmother’s school art book

Looking through and framing some of my Vovó Helena’s school girl days art studies. She was still 17 in 1923 in Olinda near Recife, Pernambuco, Bahia. All I know is that it was a school run by French nuns. The onions are by my auntie Lygia.

Old photos of papai and his sister

My cousins sent me these pictures I had never seen, it’s my dad and his sister and their summer home in the mountains of Teresólopis. Just loved them, especially her captions.
