My brother on Brazilian TV

My beautiful and talented Brother Eduardo sent a link to a show he recently did for the Brazilian PBS-like channel. How lovely it was to sit back by the fire after a day of teaching and listen to his melodious voice singing so many old Brazilian songs-- we sang those together in high school! Oh how I miss him. We often talk about being old together sitting  in front of the ocean... may God allow this will come to pass.

Pentecost

With Number Seven in Chicago enjoying the Arts Fest with Number One, we have had a quiet weekend, a taste of the empty nester life to come soon. We did some (unsuccessful) house hunting and have also progressed in our intermittent fasting. This morning at church the choir was out of this world--doing the usual beautiful pieces (such as the De Angelis Gloria) and filling the church with beauty as they sang the gorgeous Veni Sancte Spiritus sequence and athe Sicut Cervus at the end.

Music albums

My brother Eduardo tagged me on Facebook. I don't usually choose the music at home, but there are albums that have marked my life. This one I listened to often after the death our my beloved Mamae. The Fado genre is already sorrowful, and I cried as I listened during that year of grief... in a mysterious way it offered comfort.

Video from wedding

I am so thankful that Number Two took this video from the choir loft. The music the girls did was truly heavenly!

Number Seven sings

She sang a duet at Festival of Trees with friend Thomas, also a voice student under teacher Pamela Baker. And the school choir went caroling on the steps of our classical, beautiful downton Post Office building.

Music

Number Six has a whole lot of music to prepare and practice... she is responsible for the wedding music and for five upcoming masses at the parish! Nancy and Nicole came to visit and they enjoyed music together.

Wedding Music

Nancy was kind to send me the videos she took of the Psalm, Ave Maria and Communion hymns. Her beautiful daughters have never shone so brightly n violin and voice--and I am not a bit bias! Male cantor was Jonathan who graduated with Number Five, pianist was also colleague Aaron, and The Mass setting was the traditional Chant Mass--oh so timeless and beautiful.

Number Six Piano photo for Senior Recital

They spent an hour working while I cooked dinner--and after many good results, we have a couple of winners! Thanks, Number Five!

Music Day at Augustana University

The girls performed piano and voice yesterday and got very nice marks at the annual Ensemble and Solo contest, and Husband and I had Vietnamese with old friends Sandy and Tom. A wonderful day.

Number Three's Concert

Number Three sings now in the same choir Number Four sang last years-- which means we get to attend the concerts all year and see our son singing! Dr. Diddle always presents beautiful musical repertoire.

Homeschool Musical

While we were away, most of us and then some of us, Number Six spent two whole weeks at the Gerdes' home to be able to participate in the homeschool musical put on by the Sioux Falls Catholic homeschool group. They did School House Rock and Number Six and friend Nicole were the principal soloitsts. I'm so sorry I couldn't be there--Husband attended with Number Four and we will receive a video soon so we can all enjoy the show together.

From Number Six's blog:

Earl Grey Soliloquy

Musical 2016

Our performance went fairly well. There is suspicion that the theater's air conditioning broke or something...at any rate, we were sweating buckets at the performance, whereas we had been totally fine during the dress rehearsal just two hours previously.
But aside from that, our audience enjoyed the show and things went as smoothly as can be expected. To be honest, I'm glad that it's all done, that I'm home again, and I can give my aching muscles a break! It was a great experience but definitely a lot of time and effort.

Huge thank-you to our director Ann, our costume-maker Marie, and our accompanist Nancy!

An impromptu trip to MN!

Number Five sang at her final Spring Choir Concert last night. She was recognized as a graduating senior since she will be student teaching next spring. Friend and SDSU Choir Director Laura drove, and friend Keri came, along with Number Six. We had dinner with Number Five and her beau Matt, and attended the concert after dinner. We spent the night downtown and were back home by lunch time today! I got a video of the words about her by her professor, and a couple of photos.

Not a good photo but an amazing concert. Hopefully I will get an audio link soon to add to this post.

The performer posed for us afterwards by the beautiful side altar of the Blessed Mother!
