Best flan ever

Sunday night we hosted a dinner party—photos from preparations. Guests included both author and priest interviewed in this article about the recent tragedy here mere blocks from our house. 

I made a double Brazilian flan recipe using 2 cans of condensed milk, 1 3/4 C milk and 7 eggs. The sauce turned out the best ever. After caramelizing the sugar I added 1/2 C very hot water and stirred while simmering until the perfect consistency before lining into flan pan. As always, bake in 350 oven in a pan of water (“banho Maria”. .

 

Christmas Cookies!

 With more time at home Number Seven and I have baked Date Pinwheels and our favorite sugar cookies from A Continual Feast cookbook. We are decorating today—but we are not done baking and decorating yet!

Stuffed mushrooms

 Husband brought mushrooms home and mentioned stuffed mushrooms… made them last night for the first time. The filling was sharp cheddar and Canadian bacon. They were easy and yummy!
