Speaking Live to Homeschoolers in Brazil

It’s always a delight and time flies! I truly don’t see the time pass when I talk online.

Speaking live with Brazilian homeschool families

It’s been an absolutely wonderful experience! This was my third time speaking to a large group in Brazil!

Here's a video (in two parts) they are posting on their site:

Podcast Interview

The beautiful Chelsea was my co-worker at the Catholic school. We met over lunch hour at the teacher’s lounge, and our age gap became smaller and smaller as we shared a love for classical
Education, cooking good food, and our Catholic faith. She now has a podcast and the interview was a blast!

Number Seven Goes to Prom

She was asked by her friend Thomas T., with whom she sang in choir since the seventh grade. He was also our neighbor in Brookings and they shared many rides together. She flew to Sioux Falls ahwere Number Three and Jessie picked her up. She is being hosted at the Novotnys (her friend Hannah is the one in pink). They took the group photos at the the new wing of the Performing Arts Center at SDSU.

Domestic goddess

That's what I have been calling her... she is such a good baker! Plenty of extra credit in Home Ec!

This week

It has been a quiet and productive week. I had some dental work done at the endodontist, and have had time to make a dent into our reading aloud of the Divine Comedy. Mass at the nearby Saint Casimir with its beautiful Polish art and history.

Number Seven (pictured under our last snow flurries in front of Resurrection Parish) and I feel like this is the quiet before the storm... She will travel next week with Husband to visit UD as she was accepted there, then off to attend Prom at her old high school, then off to hike in Colorado with Number Three and Jessie--plus a visit to Number Two! When she returns, Number Six will meet her at one of the airport stops and they all arrive together!

Latin on Wednesdays

On Wednesdays I host a Latin class at home for kids from two families and Number Seven as well. I print the lessons for them from the same program I use at school, but at home we progress at least three times as fast.

One of the things I love is admiring Number Seven’s cursive she has resurfaced for Latin, and her little artistic drawings as well.

My new Job: Latin Teacher!

Today was my first day as a Latin teacher at Resurrection School, a 160-students Catholic school in central Lansing. Amazing what all of the experience and years of homeschool are empowering me to do. To think 20 years ago I was teaching Latin for the first time, using the same beloved Roman Roots by Dr. James Leek. I am gathering ideas etc from many resources and adapting to the many students from K to 8th grade that I will see twice a week.
